Seven Reasons Every Pastor Should Have a Blog

Posted by on Jan 9, 2016 in Christian Encouragement, Christian Worship Blog, Church Growth | 0 comments

By Thom S. Rainer The title of this article may seem both presumptuous and audacious. Do I really believe everypastor should have a blog? Yes I do. I speak to pastors in numerous settings, and I am able to share with them the benefits of such a discipline in writing. Understand that writing a blog can begin simple with little time pressure. The pastor can commit to write 400 words a week in one post. I do recommend that the number of posts increase to at least twice a week later, but you need to start somewhere. I think you will be amazed how much the blog benefits the church and your ministry. Here are seven reasons why it is so important: 1. Heavy doses of communication are vital in any relationship. This reality is powerfully true in the pastor/congregation relationship. Healthy churches have healthy pastor/members relationships. Healthy relationships are enhanced through ongoing communication. And the blog is an incredible way to communicate regularly. For this reason, I am very grateful for the Internet age. 2. The pastor is able to present those most important emphases or visionary matters. The sermon just does not allow sufficient time to do all the communication a pastor needs to do. If done well, the blog can serve...

Eight Steps On How To Grow Your Church

Posted by on Aug 20, 2014 in Christian Encouragement, Christian Worship Blog, Church Growth | 0 comments

Let us start with a brief recap of the first four (4) steps 1) Decide you really, really want to grow 2) Your role as pastor must change 3) Mobilize members for ministry  4) Begin having multiple services 5) Multiply your staff – In order to grow past that 200 barrier, you must begin moving to multiple staff. You must begin to specialize the staff under your leadership. 6) Plan big days – The best way I know to break through barriers is to break a few all at one time. Plan a big day — an event — and your numbers go up. Yes, they go back down afterwards, but not as far as they were before the event. Keep doing this and you grow. Big holidays are an obvious time to concentrate on events — Easter, Christmas. Plan outreaches to the community. 7) Have multiple cells – People will often complain about not being cared for when the real issue is that they’re losing control. “There are so many people here I don’t feel like anybody cares for me anymore” is a common complaint. Another is: “The pastor is too busy for me now.” Caring is a legitimate issue, but you can respond through the multiplication of cells — groups of 8-12...

A New Thing At Cave Adullam

As I thought about a prayer meeting I was to attend in a few days, this scripture kept coming to my mind. 1 samuel 22:1-2 “So David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. Soon his brothers and all his other relatives joined him there. 2 Then others began coming—men who were in trouble or in debt or who were just discontented …” I will explain what I learnt. David, the LORD’s anointed one and soon to...
